In Loving memory of
Selah Bleu Gonzales

The Selah Bleu Memorial Fund has been established in honor of Selah Bleu Gonzales, the beloved daughter of DPAC Board member Stefanie Ellis-Gonzales and Len Gonzales, and big sister to Landen and Lelan Gonzales. She was also the niece of Lisa Gonzales, DPAC’s former Executive Director. Selah was a member of the DeafPlus community, and it was the family’s hope that she would eventually become a part of DPAC. However, Selah passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on May 27, 2023, leaving us far too soon at just 20 years old.

Throughout Selah’s life, family and friends were at the very heart of her world. She was a young woman of overflowing affection, known for her loving silliness and a contagious laugh. She had special hugs – some where she’d lean her head on your chest, and others that would envelop you with love, instantly warming your heart. Selah had an extraordinary gift – the ability to remind us to slow down and  savor life’s simple joys. Her love for mermaids, Barbie dolls, roller skates, and an epic fondness for In-N-Out burgers were just a few of the endearing facets that made her the remarkable individual she was. Her favorite sayings were “Don’t worry!” and “Be silly!” – both of which impart a vital life lesson for all of us: not to take life too seriously.

Selah was full of zest despite her many health challenges, embodying bravery, radiance, independence, and determination, all wrapped up in a unique and unforgettable package. She touched the lives of those around her, teaching us to be more compassionate, patient, and loving. Selah’s legacy lives on through the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

In honor of Selah’s memory, the Gonzales family has established the Selah Bleu Memorial Fund, dedicated to maintaining her legacy by supporting DeafPlus Adult Community (DPAC). DPAC is unparalleled in that it provides a safe and supportive environment for Deaf adults with additional disabilities, offering abundant opportunities for growth, independence, and communication within the community.

Selah’s spirit, along with a message of love and inclusivity, will be carried forward through the work of this fund.  By contributing to the Selah Bleu Memorial Fund, you will help us further foster an environment where DeafPlus individuals are nurtured, supported, so that they are able to thrive.
